There is one word that describes the reason why Amy decided to become a therapist: resilience. Truly resilience is what we all seek for as we weather the storms of life. Amy believes that every person can harness within themselves the ability to overcome and then thrive despite the setbacks that life sometimes gives us. Seeking out help and counseling can be intimidating, but if we’re being honest, everyone needs that kind of help at difficult points in life. Amy seeks to make that process easier by being an approachable, fun-oriented, easy-going and down-to-earth type of person.

Amy did her undergrad at Brigham Young University and then decided to get some hands-on experience in the field of treatment by working as a guide for troubled youth wilderness programs in Southern Utah. She fell in love with combining an outdoor experience with therapy. After completing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University, Amy resumed working in the outdoor scene as a family therapist for a high adventure program for adolescents. It was rewarding work to give hope back to these young people and their families.

Life took Amy on her own adventure to Wyoming where she worked in community mental health for five years and then as a high school counselor for seven. She is great at working with teenagers and their parents through those oftentimes challenging chapters of life.

Professionally Amy sees adults, couples, families, young adults and adolescents. Methods for treatment that she uses include: CBT, Experiential Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative and Rapid Resolution Therapy.

Amy is happily married with 3 to 8 children (you know how blended families go…). She and her husband, Jared, create an active lifestyle with their children, embracing all sports and outdoor activities. She loves being a wife and mother and feels that life is full of blessings.
