Stress doesn’t stay in your head
Stress, anxiety and trauma don’t stay in your head. They show up mentally, emotionally and physically, and I address all three in my sessions. People come to me at every life stage — couples, families with teens, and individuals from teens to older adults. I have been in practice eleven years, and have my own personal experience that I bring to my therapeutic work.
Relationships pose their own complex challenges, and I enjoy working with couples and families with teens — improving communication, understanding and acceptance, and repairing past hurts. I’m Level 1 trained in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and I also use Emotionally Focused Therapy with couples and families, which works through an attachment-based lens.
I have experience helping people with religious trauma, faith transitions and mixed-faith relationships, and with other life transitions and grief. I collaborate with clients from their own framework.
I’m Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems, a research-supported model that helps you understand where the conflict is coming from and create some harmony and healing inside. You may not need more effort so much as a different way of approaching the problem, and to learn to trust all the parts that make up you. I’m also trained in EMDR, which helps the brain process trauma, and I take a mind-body approach that addresses the physical side of stress. Alongside that, I offer practical strategies for managing anxiety and stress, and space to explore self-imposed limitations and the influences of the past and the present.
I earned my doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Florida State University, where my research looked at stress in families and at racial discrimination as a stressor. I enjoy working with people from every background, and I’m an ally for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families. I also offer a 20% discount to military members and first responders.
I believe you already have within you the ability and the strength not only to get through what’s in front of you, but to come out of it whole.
What working together looks like
Our first session is mostly me getting to know you: what brought you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you’d like to feel different. We set goals and a process to help you feel hope for the change to come.
If you come as a couple, I’ll want to hear from both of you. Much of the early work is simply helping the two of you experience each other differently than you have been. We recognize individual responsibility and shared relationship responsibility.
If faith is part of what’s brought you in, we will work through your lens to help you reach the goal you choose.
And if part of what you’re carrying has to do with your background, your culture, or discrimination you’ve run into, we will frame goals and our work within that context. My doctoral research looked at stress in families and at racial discrimination as a stressor, and I enjoy working with people from every background.
Where trauma is involved, I primarily use the models of EMDR and IFS. We’d talk about what makes sense for you first, and choose an approach to help bring relief and new healthy beliefs.

What people say about Redwood
“I was so scared to bring my kids with me because I had no one to watch them, and I was incredibly nervous to meet with a therapist for the first time in my life. But I’m so glad I did, it turned out to be a great place for me to begin healing.”
Questions people ask before reaching out
Do you take insurance?
Redwood doesn’t bill insurance directly. We’re an out-of-network provider, which keeps you free to choose the therapist who’s the right fit and keeps the cost clear and known up front. Many plans do reimburse part of out-of-network care, and Redwood partners with Mentaya so you can check whether yours does.
Who do you work with?
Teens, adults and older adults, couples at every stage, and families. People come to me around stress, anxiety and trauma, around their marriage or relationship, around faith transitions and mixed-faith relationships, and around grief and other life transitions.
I’m going through a faith transition, or my spouse is. Can you help with that?
Yes. I have experience helping clients with faith transitions, religious trauma and mixed-faith relationships. I collaborate with clients from their own framework.
Do you offer EMDR?
Yes. I have formal training and a certificate in EMDR therapy, which is a valuable model in healing trauma. I’m also Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems, and use a mind-body approach to wellness, so what we use depends on what model or method will help your trauma healing best.
Do you offer a discount for military members and first responders?
Yes. I offer a 20% discount to military members and first responders (police, fire and ambulance).
Can we talk about culture, background or discrimination in therapy?
Yes. My doctoral research looked at stress in families and at racial discrimination as a stressor, and I enjoy working with people from every background. I’m also an ally for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
What happens in a first session?
Mostly getting to know you: what brought you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you’d like to feel different. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to. We set goals and a process to help you feel hope for the change to come.
