Save Money With Mentaya

As an out-of-network provider, we have partnered with Mentaya to help our clients save money on therapy. Use this tool to see if you qualify for reimbursement for our services.

Do you take insurance?

We do accept HSA and Flex Spending cards. We do not directly bill insurance companies but we can provide you with the paperwork you need to seek reimbursement yourself. We encourage you to seriously consider not using insurance. See why you shouldn’t use insurance below.

  • Cash, check, credit, debit, Flex Pay, and HSA card payments accepted at time of service.
  • Insurance: We do not directly bill insurance companies but we can provide you with the paperwork you need to seek reimbursement yourself. We encourage you to consider not using insurance for the reasons highlighted below.
  • Multiple payment plan options are available through local credit unions and banks that offer very low monthly payment rates. Ask our staff for more information!
If you decide to prepay for multiple session up front you can get a significantly reduced fee.
  • If you decide to stop therapy before all prepaid sessions are done, you will receive a prorated discount at the full fee rate, so there is no risk.
  • Due to the high population of LDS clients in our area, LDS Bishop pay is accepted for those with that option available to you. Depending on need, there are even options at many credit unions and banks to get small loans for therapy. Talk to us and we can find a way to make therapy affordable for you.

We prefer not to work with insurance for the following reasons:

  • Confidentiality – Insurance companies require that everyone gets a diagnosis of a mental disorder in order to reimburse for therapy. Contrary to popular opinion, HIPAA doesn’t keep things completely confidential. Your diagnosis is something that is seen by multiple people at the insurance company and can be shared with other insurance companies- life/disability/future health insurance companies, and the government. Some employers can even request you release the information to them. Some diagnoses can greatly increase your fees for insurance depending on the severity of the disorder. Also, some insurance companies will require you get a medication evaluation for your particular diagnosis, even if you do not want to take medication or if there is no real need for you to take medication. By not using insurance we give our clients the most confidentiality possible.
  • No Time Limit- Insurance companies limit what we can do as therapists to help you as our client. Instead of doing what is best for you, insurance companies can say how many sessions are appropriate for a given diagnosis and some even limit which therapy modality is approved. Essentially, someone, who has never met you will tell you what you need based on their financial bottom line. By not using your insurance we are able to see you as long as needed and without limitation.
  • Affordable Commitment – When people pay for therapy themselves, they have more emotional buy-in and commitment to therapy. When people pay with their own money, they tend to work harder and better appreciate the services provided. Plus, therapy is very affordable. Even at our highest rate and a large number of sessions, say 20 hours (which is far more than the average time needed), it would be cheaper than getting your kid braces, than two months of an average mortgage payment, about the same as many people pay for one big-screen television, WAY cheaper than a divorce, etc. How much is your mental health, happiness, marriage, etc. worth to you?
  • Flexible Fees- Not using your insurance allows us to be flexible with our fees. We can occasionally give significant discounts to people in times of need, or to help people continue therapy until they are in a better financial position. Insurance does not allow us that flexibility.

If your insurance provides a flex pay card or other credit card type benefit card, we can accept this form of payment, usually without having to disclose diagnostic information.

  • We do not directly bill insurance companies for therapy services.
  • We do accept HSA cards, Flex Spending cards, and Benny cards as forms of payment.
  • We also offer the option of providing you with monthly invoices that you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement for your therapy appointments. Some therapists are contracted providers through certain insurance companies while others are not. Please check with your insurance company to determine if your therapist is a contracted provider. All non-contracted providers will be reimbursed at the non-contracted or out-of-network provider rate listed on your insurance plan. If you are interested in this option, it is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to determine whether or not you are eligible for mental health benefits, out-of-network reimbursement, and for any pre-authorization.
  • If you do decide to utilize insurance reimbursement, please consider the risks of doing so (see below). We also offer the option of providing you with monthly invoices that you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement for your therapy appointments. Your Good Faith Estimate

The federal government, through the No Surprises Act, now requires every therapist to give a “good faith estimate” so you know how much therapy will cost. We go beyond this requirement by providing you with precisely what your session will cost per hour. We cannot tell you the exact number of sessions you will have ahead of time, because this is entirely up to you in conjunction with your therapist and will be discussed with your therapist throughout therapy, and you can request a “Good Faith Estimate” at any time. Below is the mandatory information we must include on our website in regard to this federal act:

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
